Karene Primrose has over 20 years’ experience as a litigation partner of one of WA’s largest commercial law firms. During this time, she also built her mediation practice, led the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team and chaired its Ethics Committee and Community Committee.
In 2023, she commenced her own private practice working principally in the area of commercial litigation, with a focus on early dispute assessment and alternative dispute resolution, and as a private mediator and conciliator.
Karene’s practice areas include contractual disputes, commercial leasing issues, franchising disputes, negligence claims, agri-business disputes, family provision claims, and Australian Consumer Law matters, including consumer warranties and misleading or deceptive conduct.
Her experience spans a diverse array of industry sectors.
Karene is a nationally accredited mediator (with NMAS) and conciliator. She has also completed Harvard University’s Advanced Mediation course.
She accepts private appointments to act as a mediator and conciliator and serves on a number of statutory Dispute Resolution Panels, including the Small Business Development Commission ADR scheme and the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman’ panel.
Karene’s private and panel mediation work has included farm debt claims, franchising disputes, commercial leasing, partnership dissolution, family provision and contentious probate claims, supply agreement disputes between principals and contractors and general SME issues.
Relevantly, Karene serves on the national board of Resolution Institute (Aus & NZ), and a number of other boards and committees.
